Christopher Jacob Proffitt was born May 9, 1978 at London, Ky and left this world for a better life on April 8, 2021 at Somerset, Ky being 42 years, 10 months and 29 days old. He was the son of Clyde Proffitt and Deborah Gaines. He is survived by his parents, his four children: Julia Proffitt, Amy Proffitt, Christian Proffitt and Stephanie Proffitt; his brother Ben Proffitt and his wife Sonya, niece Madysen Proffitt and a special little buddy named Brayden as well as a host of family and friends. Chris was preceded in death by three special grandparents; Dan Proffitt, Joseph Gaines, and Zelma Rice and a great-grandparent Julia Martin, all of whom he loved dearly and missed greatly. Chris was a very dedicated father. He was a long-haul truck driver until he became a single dad to his four children 11 years ago at which time he took a truck driving job which allowed him to be home with his children every night. Chris poured his time and his energy into raising his children until he was forced to leave them last week. His last wishes were for his children to be cared for properly and the family’s special friends and neighbors to keep in touch with them, as they continue to grow and proceed through their lives without the loving care of their father. Chris was a proud member of the American Veterans AmVets Riders, Chapter 125 of Somerset, Ky. Some of the special times in his short life were the rides he participated in as a member of this organization as well as the short trips he made to break up the loneliness he felt when his children were gone. Chris’ family and friends will remember him as a caring and generous person who fought a long, tough battle against his brain tumor. He impacted many lives during his short time on earth. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Funeral services for Christopher Jacob Proffitt will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Wayne House and Rick Watson officiating.
