Darlene House Holt, age 68, of London, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. She leaves behind her fiancé Johnny Brown; two children, Tracy Hacker & husband Jeff, Dustin Tarter-Holt & husband Chris, all of London, KY; seven grandchildren, Dayne & wife Hannah, Tyra Ann, Bella Marie, Brie, Justin Hacker, Montana Holt, Thomas Tarter,; two great grandchildren, Gabbi & Willow Hacker; two honorary sisters, Sis Howard & Sandi Singleton; special friends, Amy Jo Mills, Judy Westerfield, Peggy Catron, Debbie Pennington; step-son, Nolan Brown; sister-in-law, Linda Vaughn; two brothers, John Morris & Charles Morris, both of London, KY; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Ray House & Marjorie Mae Provence Morris; her grandson, Liam Hacker; and by her great grandchild, Baby H. Darlene was a devoted homemaker and the heart of her family who leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished most. She shared a deep and unconditional love, a love that was steadfast, enduring, and saw every season of life through together. Darlene was a woman with an unbreakable spirit, strong faith, and deeply rooted beliefs. Fierce in her convictions and strong willed by nature, she believed in doing things the right way – which was her way. She carried herself with strength, courage, and no fear, always standing firm and strong for the people she loved. She was known as a secret keeper and a trusted confidant; someone others could turn to without hesitation. Darlene never met a stranger and loved people from all walks of life. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her home reflected her “open door policy,” where everyone was welcomed, cared for, and treated like family. Darlene loved cooking for those she loved and found joy in taking care of others. She was always present in the lives of her children and family — driving the kids to school, attending every event possible, and making sure no important moment was ever missed. She was devoted to everyone around her and carried the weight of caring for others with a strong and steady hand. Though she was loving and generous, Darlene also believed in teaching people to stand on their own and to treat people the way you would want to be treated. She would gladly help anyone in need, but she believed they should learn how to handle things themselves the next time. She had little patience for repeatedly dealing with the same problems, preferring honesty, responsibility, and resilience. Family meant everything to Darlene. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother whose love for her family ran deep. Her loyalty was unwavering, her presence comforting, and her love unconditional. Down to earth and genuine, she touched countless lives through her kindness, strength, and fierce devotion. Among the simple things she loved most were roses, whose beauty and strength reflected much of who she was herself. She got that love from her great grandmother who bred her own roses and even won a prize for one of her crossbred varieties. Darlene will be remembered for her strong spirit, her generous heart, her fearless nature, and the enduring love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
