London, Kentucky
Deborah Ann Roark, affectionately known as Debbie to family and friends, was born in London, KY and raised by her loving parents Ethel and Oliver Smith. She went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on November 18 following a medical emergency. Those she left behind will forever miss her infectious laugh and her encouraging smile. Debbie also possessed a dedicated work ethic and sense of determination that served her well throughout her life as she raised her son Michael as a single parent. Debbie’s career path included work in data entry and more recently at Hardee’s where she was known for making the best biscuits ever! Debbie was also an entrepreneur who ran her own jewelry business, hosting fun parties at people’s homes as well as selling at flea markets and other retail opportunities. She had an eye for unique pieces of jewelry and loved helping someone connect with a keepsake they were going to love. When not working, Debbie enjoyed travel and music. “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars was her favorite song and she couldn’t sit still when it was on. Debbie was also an avid animal lover, often feeding stray cats and taking care of any animal in need. She loved her little chihuahua Diesel, sharing every meal with him and treating him like a king. But Debbie’s true pride and joy was her son Michael. As a well-known pool player, Mike competes all over the country and Debbie was always his biggest fan. She always followed the brackets of the tournaments and kept up with where he was in the standings. She was always quick with an encouraging word or text and so proud of her boy. That pride was not only in terms of his professional accomplishments, but also in his new family. He wed Michaela Evans in October of 2021, and became stepfather to her son Caleb. Debbie warmly embraced her new family and became a doting grandma. Debbie was one of those rare individuals who knew how to work hard and play hard too. She had a zest for life and a deep love for her family and friends. Her warm laugh and mischievous smile will be missed, but the legacy of love she left behind lives on in her son Mike and all those who knew her and were touched by her sweet spirit.
