Delores Mitchell

Delores Mitchell, 83, passed away at home on August 2, 2018, under the care of Heartland Hospice. Delores was born in Coal Good, KY, on February 15, 1935 to the late Ernest and Hazel Swain. She graduated from Hall High School in 1953. Delores married William Mitchell September 9, 1953. They have two sons, Michael (Kim) Mitchell, Hickory, NC and Rodney (Megan) Mitchell, Raleigh, NC; Two siblings, Paul Swain of Knoxville, TN and Flora Mae Hicks of Lafollette, TN; Five grandchildren, Shane Mitchell of Maysville, KY, Ryan Mitchell of Raleigh, NC, Charley (Emily) Mitchell of Florence, SC, Renee (Bruce) Robinson of Washington, DC and Alan (Kara) Davis of Cottonwood Heights, UT; Eleven great grandchildren, Joseph, Savana, Michaela, Caiden, Ellison and Liam Mitchell of Raleigh NC, Paxton Mitchell of Florence, SC, Skylar and Remi Mitchell and Paisley Riley of Maysville, KY, and Micah Davis, of Cottonwood Heights, UT, plus a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends to mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard Swain; three sisters Brenda Swain, Fay Scott, and Barbara Hawkings. Delores loved her family, devoting her life to raising her children and then spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Delores also had a passion for shopping and talking. The many days she spent combining the three (family, shopping and talking), were the happiest days of her life. Graveside services will be held for Delores Mitchell on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Jellico Creek Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky with Bro. Homer Johnson officiating. House-Rawlings Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
