Juanita Durik

–

London, Kentucky

In Loving Memory of Juanita Foley Durik
May 6, 1969 – October 12, 2026

Juanita Foley Durik, 57, of London, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026. Born in Warsaw, Indiana, on May 6, 1969, Juanita lived a life that was authentically and unapologetically her own—wild, honest, spontaneous, and entirely without regrets.

Juanita was a woman of vibrant character, sharp wit, and deep care for those around her. She embraced adventure throughout her life, whether going on impromptu weekend road trips, camping, or fearlessly jumping out of airplanes on skydiving excursions while her daughter cheered her on from the ground. She and her daughter, Gabrielle, shared a rare and unbreakable bond, spending 33 years as best friends navigating life's adventures side-by-side.

Above all, Juanita expressed her immense love through her hands and her heart. An incredibly talented crocheter, she spent countless hours crafting beautiful, intricate blankets for the people she loved, wrapping them in warmth and tangible memories that her family will treasure forever. A passionate animal lover, Juanita’s heart belonged especially to cats—most notably her beloved rescue, Hopper, and Gabrielle's cat, Poubelle, both of whom were treated like true family.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Woodrow Foley and Julie Ann Foley.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend, Gabrielle Durik; her sisters, Sharon Konkle, Karen Swihart, and Crystal Ellison; along with a loving circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. To all who knew and loved her, she was a fiercely independent, beautiful soul who brought color and light wherever she went.

In accordance with her wishes, Juanita will be cremated. A Celebration of Life honoring her spontaneous spirit and unique legacy will be held in Indiana in November 2026, with details to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Juanita’s honor to Forgotten Felines of Corbin, KY—a rescue close to her heart where she adopted Hopper. Juanita always joked that if she ever won the lottery, she would buy them their very own clinic; supporting their mission continues her lifelong love for animals in need.
