Katherine Louise Delph Owens, age 82, of London, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, Bobby L. Owens; her son, Dwayne Owens & wife Robin of London, KY; three grandchildren, Scarlett Sexton & husband Jamie, Jessie Wilks & wife Kayla, Robert Carl Jacob Owens & wife Ally; four great grandchildren, Katherine “Katie” Sexton, Tucker Lee Wilks, Walker Robert Grant Owens, Jace Tatum Wilks; one sister, Shirley Sullivan; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Mary Moore Delph; and by two siblings, Emma Delph Sims & Billy Delph.
Katherine was, above all else, a wonderful mother—the kind of mother everyone hopes to have and the kind whose love leaves an imprint on the hearts of her family forever. To her grandchildren and so many others who loved her, she was simply known as “Nan,” a name that carried with it a lifetime of love, comfort, kindness, and precious memories. She was a sweet soul with a truly good heart, a woman whose love was genuine, whose faith was strong, and whose family meant everything to her.
Nan loved her family with her whole heart, giving one hundred percent of herself to the people she loved. She was a steady source of support, always willing to stand behind those she cared about, encouraging them and loving them without needing recognition or praise. She was never someone who needed to be in the spotlight. In fact, she was perfectly content being a private person, enjoying the quiet comforts of home and allowing others to shine. She never cared whether the world knew her name, because what mattered most to her was the love she gave and the lives she touched along the way. She was a good supporter, a faithful presence, and someone who could be counted on to love her family through every season of life.
Her faith in the Lord was an important part of who she was. She read her Bible every day, finding comfort and strength in God's Word. Her love for the Lord was reflected in the way she lived her life—with a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a willingness to see the good in others. She was not one to speak badly about anyone, choosing instead to live peacefully and treat others with kindness. She had a remarkable ability to love people without judgment and to offer support without expecting anything in return.
Although Nan was sweet and gentle by nature, she was also a woman who could stand her ground when she needed to. She did not go looking for arguments or disagreements, and she rarely fussed with anyone—except Bobby, of course! That little exception was often good for a smile and a reminder that even the sweetest souls have their moments with the people closest to them. It was simply another part of the personality her family knew and loved so dearly.
Nan found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved watching hummingbirds, taking joy in their beauty and the peaceful moments they brought to her day. Music was another of her great loves, and she enjoyed listening to favorites such as Elvis Presley and all country, bluegrass and gospel music.. She also held a special appreciation for Marty Raybon of Shenandoah, who checked on her often. Those thoughtful gestures meant something special, reflecting the kind of caring connections that brought comfort and happiness to her life.
What made Nan so special was not something that could be measured by accomplishments or recognition. It was the goodness of her heart, the sincerity of her love, and the gentle way she moved through the world. She did not have to be the loudest person in the room to be deeply loved, and she never had to seek attention to make a difference. Her love spoke for itself.
Though her family will miss her more than words can express, they can take comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will never be lost. Nan's legacy is one of faith, kindness, humility, and unconditional love. She may have preferred to remain quietly in the background, but her place in the hearts of those who loved her will always be front and center. She was a blessing to her family, a woman with a beautiful heart, and a mother whose love will be cherished for generations to come.
