Mary Salyers Proffitt

Mary Salyers Proffitt, age 85, of London, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Donald Fred Proffitt. Born of this union was Donald Proffitt Jr. & wife Melissa, Tena Brock & husband Earl Jr., Shawn Proffitt & wife Chanel, all of London, KY. They were blessed with ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. She also leaves behind two brothers, Pete Salyers & wife Charlene, and Casey Salyers, all of London, KY, special neighbors and friends, Eldon and Charlotte Wyatt; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Earl Salyers Sr. and Edna Begley Salyers Proffitt; one brother, Earl Salyers; two sisters, Sally Grimes and Goldie Bowling; her infant son, Earl Duane Proffitt; her grandson, Donald Chase Proffitt; her stepdaughter, Sherry and stepdad, Bonnie Proffitt. Mary loved and cherished all her family. She loved spending time with family, playing games, fishing, camping, and later she adored going to Bingo with her sister-in-law and friend, Darlene Salyers. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandparent, and an upstanding neighbor in her community. A funeral service honoring Mary Salyers Proffitt will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Jerry Holland, Jerry McKinley Holland and Steve Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at Warren Grove Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 15, 2026 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Todd Brock, Steven Brock, Donté Proffitt, Zachary Proffitt, Clayton Marlow and Jonathan Boggs. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
