Roy Rodgerson III, age 66, of London, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Robin Cales Rodgerson; three children, Nicholas Cales Rodgerson & wife Erica of Keavy, KY, Dalton Cody Rodgerson of London, KY, William Zachary Rodgerson & wife Sabranna of London, KY; one granddaughter, Sydney Rae Rodgerson; two siblings, Rita Burgess of Linden, MI, Randall Rodgerson & wife Ruth of Indiana; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Guy Rodgerson Jr. & LouVadia Gregory Rodgerson.
Roy was a man of many talents, who had a generous heart, and a wonderful sense of humor. A true renaissance man, Roy seemed to be able to do just about anything he set his mind to. Whether he was working with his hands, creating something special, sharing a laugh, or lending a helping hand to someone in need, Roy brought his own unique spirit and enthusiasm to everything he did.
Roy worked as a truck driver for 42 years, dedicating much of his life to the open road. Outside of work, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, a passion that gave him a sense of freedom and adventure. He also had a deep love for music, especially playing the guitar, writing church songs, and singing. His musical talents were a reflection of his creativity and his faith, allowing him to share a part of himself with those around him.
There was very little Roy couldn't do. He had a natural talent for carpentry and could take on a project with confidence and skill. He was the kind of person who could figure things out, work with his hands, and find a way to get the job done. His many abilities were matched only by his willingness to use them to help others. Roy never hesitated to lend a hand to someone who needed it, and his generous heart made him someone people could count on.
Roy was also known for his humor. He was a natural jokester with one of the best senses of humor, always ready to share a laugh or bring a smile to someone's face. His quick wit and playful personality made time spent with him memorable, and his laughter was a gift to those fortunate enough to know him. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Roy deeply loved his family, who held a special place in his heart. He also had a soft spot for his dogs and enjoyed the companionship and affection they brought into his life. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and knives, appreciating the history and uniqueness of each piece. He was also a fan of Westerns, finding enjoyment in the timeless stories and adventures they offered. And everyone knew not to get Roy started on aliens and UFOs! Those who knew him surely heard his legendary story about the infamous spaceship sitting at the four-way caution light in London, Kentucky. It was a tale we never seemed to hear the end of, and it was always good for a laugh. Bless his heart, he didn't even have his phone with him that day! It was just one of those unforgettable Roy stories that kept everyone entertained and will surely bring a smile to our faces for years to come.
Roy's life was defined by his many talents, his adventurous spirit, his love of music, and his willingness to help others. But perhaps his greatest qualities were his generosity and the joy he brought to those around him. He gave freely of his time, his abilities, and his heart, never needing recognition for doing what he believed was right.
Roy will be remembered as a talented, funny, hardworking, and bighearted man who could do a little bit of everything and who gave so much of himself to the people he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, the music he played, and the kindness he showed will live on in the hearts of his family and all those whose lives he touched.
