Tressa Root Smallwood

Tressa Root Smallwood, age 58, of London, Kentucky passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at Continue Care Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. She leaves behind her fiancé, Jerry Murray; two children, Linda McFadden & husband Jackie, Josh Murray & wife Courtnie, all of London; eight siblings, Barbara Lewis & husband Raymond, Peggy Taylor & husband Bobby, Melba Fisher & husband Carl, Janice Harris & husband Clyde, Jimmy Root, Darrell Root, Verrell Root & wife Barbara, Melvin Root & wife Ida Mae, all of London; three grandchildren, Dexter Murray, Jalynne Murray, Jacklin McFadden, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmon Root and Stella Overbey Root; and by two siblings, Jackie Root and Virgil Root. Tressa was very dedicated to her Christian faith and attended London Community Church of God. She loved her kids and grandkids very much and enjoyed spending time with family. A private funeral service for Tressa Root Smallwood will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Verrell Root, Cecil Benge and Nick Gunn officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in London, KY. Pallbearers will include Jim Root, Sam Root, Brian Root, Sid Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Jamie Root, and Mikey Brown. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Ison, Joe Mooney, Charlie Stamper, Danny Yaden, and Johnny Gray. A “DRIVE-THROUGH ONLY” visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
