Preparing to Make Arrangements
Meeting with a funeral director for the first time is easier when you know what to expect. A little preparation before the arrangement conference helps the time together focus on what matters most — honoring your loved one's life the way your family wants.
Information to Gather
The death certificate and obituary require details that are easy to collect ahead of time: full legal name, date and place of birth, Social Security number, parents' names, education, occupation, and military service records if your loved one was a veteran. Names of surviving family members help us prepare the obituary as well.
Decisions to Think Through
You will be asked about burial or cremation, the type of service you envision, cemetery preferences, clergy or celebrants, music, and who might serve as pallbearers. There are no wrong answers — and nothing must be decided before we meet. Our directors will walk through every option with you.
Bring the Things That Tell Their Story
Photographs, a favorite outfit, and meaningful keepsakes all help us personalize the service — from the memorial cards we design and print in-house to photo displays and video tributes. If your loved one pre-planned with us or recorded their wishes anywhere, bring that too.
